AUGUST 4, 1998 FIFTH MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, August 4, 1998 at 9:00 A.M. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Burnight, and Clausen. Welte absent. Staff members present were Nancy Hodge, Board Administrative Coordinator, Patrick F. Gill, County Auditor/Board Secretary, and Ann Long, Board Legal Counsel.

The Claims were approved as presented.

Meeting called to order.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve the Regular Board Minutes of July 28, 1998 as submitted. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Clausen second by Batcheller to approve the minutes of Executive Session of July 28, 1998. Carried 4-0.

The Board approved the reclassification of Amy K. Jensen, Temporary Clerk II, County Auditor/Recorder, @$8.63/hr., effective 7/01/98. To coincide with the AFSCME Courthouse Contract agreement. Copy filed.

The Board approved the appointment of Marion L. Krueger, Temporary Clerk II, County Auditor/Recorder, @$8.63/hr., effective 8/17/98. Not to exceed 120 days. Copy filed

The Board approved the separation of Craig S. Wisniewski, Temporary Engineering Aide, Secondary Roads, effective 8/07/98. End of temporary employment. Copy filed.

The Board approved the appointment of Michele M. Lauters, Assistant County Attorney, County Attorney, @$34,000/year, effective 8/04/98. Entry Level Salary: $34,000/yr. Job Vacancy Posted: 6/19/98. Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Boykin to authorize the Chairman to sign an addendum to the current life insurance contract. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Batcheller second by Clausen to deny Health Insurance Appeal #98003. Carried 4-0.

Kip Fairchild of Salem Safety Services presented a draft of an emergency evacuation plan for Woodbury County facilities. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve lifting of a tax suspension for N.A. and W.A. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve lifting of a tax suspension for O.E.J. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Clausen second by Batcheller to approve lifting a tax suspension for E.D. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Boykin second by Batcheller to approve lifting a tax suspension for M.S. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Clausen second by Boykin to authorize the Chairman to sign an agreement with the City of Moville to use Secondary Roads Equipment. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to refer preliminary plats for Schoenherr Subdivision to Zoning Commission for recommendation. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve the bid of Donald Hoefling for 2709 Old Hwy 141 of $8,025.00. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Clausen second by Boykin to approve the bid of Lisa Evans for 2713 Old Highway 141 of $7,630.00. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve Change Order #2 for Courthouse Restoration Project III and to authorize the Chairman to sign. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Burnight to approve the letter of support to obtain a Household Hazardous Material Grant. Carried 4-0.
