About Loni Kuhlmann

Hello, my name is Loni Kuhlmann and I am the new Executive Director here at the Woodbury County Commission of Veteran Affairs. A little about me, I was raised in Charter Oak, IA and I am the daughter to Donald E. and Leila R. Kuhlmann. I am a third generation Service Member, my Grandfathers, Ervin Kuhlmann (Army – World War II(, Gordon Owens (Army – Korean War) and my father, Donald Kuhlmann (Air National Guard – Vietnam). He is the current Commander of the UTE VFW Post 5065, which my Grandfather Gordon Owens was 1 of the 13 Veterans to start that post. Prior to accepting this position, I served as the Yellow Ribbon Support Specialist since May 1, 2017 for the 185th ARW. Prior to this position, I was working as a Temp Tech at the 185th ARW. I am also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars out of Ute IA.

I have been proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force since April 5th 2003, as Security Forces for the first 6 years of my career then joined the 132nd FW in Des Moines as a Knowledge Operations Manager for Civil Engineering prior to moving back the 185th in 2014 to continue my career.

I previously served on the board for Support Siouxland Soldiers as the boards Vice President. I Graduated from Iowa Central Community College in 2007 with my Associates Degree in Psychology and Human Resources, after which I then Graduated from Buena Vista in 2011 with my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Resources and Psychology.

I look forward to meeting and working with the Veterans of Woodbury County.

About Sasha Downs

Hi, My name is Sasha Downs and I am the new Service Officer at the Woodbury County Commission of Veteran Affairs. I was originally born in West Covina, CA but have been a resident of the Siouxland area for over 20 years. I have worked for Woodbury County since 2014 as a clerk in the Sheriff’s Office and the County Attorney’s Office as a legal secretary.

I am currently a First Lieutenant in the Iowa Army National Guard here in Sioux City. I work as the Human Resources Officer for Headquarters Troop, 1-113th Cavalry Squadron and have been in the guard since 2007. I started out as a Human Resources Specialist and deployed to Afghanistan from 2010-2011. I had a short break in service in 2015 and enlisted again in 2017 where I chose to take my career further as an officer. I also previously served as a board member for Support Siouxland Soldiers. I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies with a minor in Sociology from the University of South Dakota in 2013.

I look forward to assisting the Veterans of Woodbury County in obtaining their entitled benefits.

About Lisa Robinson

Hello, my name is Lisa Robinson and I have worked with Woodbury County Veteran
Affairs since 2011. I am a life-long resident of a Hinton and I have one son. Also, I am a very proud daughter of an Air National Guard Veteran, my Dad served in the 185th as a Mechanic. I have a long line of Veterans in my family and I currently have many relatives in the Air National Guard.

I enjoy working with the Veterans of Woodbury County and helping them with many different things. Our DAV Van is a big thing that I handle, working with our Volunteer Drivers is really fun for me. Also, speaking with Veterans and hearing about their time in Service is a highlight of the day.

I look forward to keep working with the Veterans in Woodbury County.
