Walk-In Service Visits

• Walk in customers are accepted.  All walk in customers must check in at the kiosk.   We encourage you to make an appointment to minimize your wait time.  
• Customers with a title transfer must be in the office by 4:15pm.
• We will process maximum three (3) title transfers per visit.  If additional title transfers are necessary, please make an appointment by calling 712-279-6500 so that we can provide you with the best possible customer service while continuing to assist other customers.

Drive-Up Window

• The drive-up window at the Sioux City office is located on the south side of the Trosper-Hoyt building and is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
• Services provided through the drive-up are:
  • Vehicle registration renewals
  • Lien releases
  • Plate exchanges and returns - If you are returning your Iowa plate for a refund of the registration fees, you will need to have the Claim for Refund completed and signed.
• No title transfers or replacement title applications are processed through the drive-up window. 
• Cash, check, or card is accepted at the drive-up window for drive-through services.   Debit cards have a $2 surcharge.  Credit cards have a 2.25% surcharge.  We accept Visa, Mastercard, or Discover.

Dealer Service Desk

• A Dealer Service Desk is available at our Sioux City Office where licensed car dealers can drop off title transfers.
• The Dealer Desk is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
• The Dealer Desk will process a maximum of three (3) titles for dealers wanting to wait for the title.   Dealers must be in the office by 4:15pm if waiting on a title.    

Pay Online, By Mail, or Drop Box

Customers have the option renew vehicle registrations online, through the mail,  or by utilizing the drop off box. Online payments can be made with eCheck, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa. A fee of $30 will be charged for all dishonored checks, drafts or orders as prescribed in Iowa Code 554.3512.
