AUGUST 7, 2018, THIRTY-FIRST MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 3:30 p.m.  Board members present were Ung (by phone), De Witt, Pottebaum, Radig, and Taylor (by phone).  Staff members present were Dennis Butler, Budget/Tax Analyst, Karen James, Board Administrative Assistant, Melissa Thomas, Human Resources Director, and Patrick Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.      

The regular meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a Moment of Silence.

Taylor Goodvin, Taxpayers Research Council, addressed the Board with concerns about the use of Local Option Sales Tax.

Motion by De Witt second by Radig to approve the agenda for August 7, 2018.  Carried 5-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Radig second by Pottebaum to approve the following items by consent:

To approve minutes of the July 31, 2018 meeting.  Copy filed.

To approve the claims totaling $540,306.70.  Copy filed.

To approve the separation of Benjamin Payer, Temporary Engineering Aide, Secondary Roads Dept., effective 08-07-18.  End of Temporary Work.; the separation of Abby Nissen, Temporary Engineering Aide, Secondary Roads Dept., effective 08-16-18. End of Temporary Work.; the separation of Wyatt Fitch, Temporary Engineering Aide, Secondary Roads Dept., effective 08-21-18.  End of Temporary Work.; the reclassification of Constance Alderson, Clerk II, County Treasurer Dept., effective 08-22-18, $18.05/hour, 5%=$.86/hr.  Per AFSCME Courthouse Contract agreement from Grade 3/Step 2 to Grade 3/Step 3.; and the separation of Patrick Poe, Deputy Sheriff, County Sheriff Dept., effective 08-31-18.  Retirement.  Copy filed.

To approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign the Authorization to initiate the hiring process for Deputy Sheriff, County Sheriff Dept.  CWA:  $23.70/hour.  Copy filed.

Carried 5-0.

The Board heard reports on committee meetings.

There were no citizen concerns.

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until August 14, 2018.
