AUGUST 8, 2017, THIRTYTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Board members present were De Witt, Pottebaum, Radig, Ung, and Taylor. Staff members present were Dennis Butler, Budget/Tax Analyst, Karen James, Board Administrative Assistant, Ed Gilliland, Human Resources Director, P.J. Jennings, County Attorney and Patrick Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.
There was no appeal hearing held because the appellant was not present.
The regular meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a Moment of Silence.
There were no citizen concerns. Rick Schneider, Conservation Director, announced the hiring of his replacement. The Conservation Board has hired Dan Heissel, currently Conservation Director in Clay County.
Motion by Radig second by Ung to approve the Agenda for August 8, 2017. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
A public hearing was held at 4:35 p.m. for the sale of parcel #894823207007, 2025 Riverside Blvd. The Chairperson called on anyone wishing to be heard.
Motion by Taylor second by Ung to close the public hearing. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Ung second by De Witt to approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign a Resolution for the sale of real estate parcel #894823207007, 2025 Riverside Blvd., to Bargain Bedding Inc., 698 Prairie Blvd., Dakota Dunes, SD for $11,000.00 plus recording fees. Carried 5-0.

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Woodbury County, Iowa, that the offer at public auction of:

For the following described real estate, To Wit:

BE IT RESOLVED that per Code of Iowa Section 569.8(3 & 4), a parcel the County holds by tax deed shall not be assessed or taxed until transferred and upon transfer of a parcel so acquired gives the purchaser free title as to previously levied or set taxes. Therefore, the County Treasurer is requested to abate any taxes previously levied or set on this parcel(s).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman of this Board be and he is hereby authorized to execute a Quit Claim Deed for the said premises to the said purchaser.

1. That a public hearing on the aforesaid proposal shall be held on the 22nd Day of August, 2017 at 4:35 o’clock p.m. in the basement of the Woodbury County Courthouse.
2. That said Board proposes to sell the said parcel of real estate at a public auction to be held on the 22nd Day of August, 2017, immediately following the closing of the public hearing.
3. That said Board proposes to sell the said real estate to the highest bidder at or above a total minimum bid of $250.00 plus recording fees.

KEITH HANSEN
FOR HIS SERVICE TO WOODBURY COUNTY
WHEREAS, Keith Hansen has capably served Woodbury County as an employee of the Woodbury County Secondary Roads’ Department for 35 years from February 2, 1982 to August 18, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the service given by Keith Hansen as a Woodbury County employee, has been characterized by his dedication to the best interests of the citizens of Woodbury County; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF WOODBURY COUNTY, IOWA that the undersigned members of this Board thanks and commends Keith Hansen for his years of service to Woodbury County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the wish of all those signing below that the future hold only the best for this very deserving person, Keith Hansen.

The Supervisors meeting was called back to order.
Motion by Taylor second by Pottebaum to authorize the Economic Development Director to budget $1,000 from the Community & Economic Development Dept. budget for (2) Venture School/Home Base Iowa grants. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Ung second by Radig to authorize the staff to submit Woodbury County’s Home Base Iowa application to the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
There was discussion on County policies regarding security in county buildings. Copy filed.
The Chairperson reported on the day-to-day activities.
