MAY 13, 2014 — TWENTYTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Board members present were Clausen, Monson, Smith, Boykin, and Tripp. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrator, Dennis Butler, Finance/Operations Controller, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Jean Jessen, Deputy Auditor.
The meeting was called to order.
Motion by Clausen second by Smith to approve the minutes of the 05/06/2014 Board meeting. Carried 4-0; Tripp abstained. Copy filed.
Motion by Smith second by Tripp to approve the county’s claims totaling $658,627.65. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Tripp second by Monson to approve the appointment of Kayla Lavalais, Civilian Jailer, County Sheriff Dept., effective 05/16/14, $16.85/hour. Job Vacancy Posted 4-2-14. Entry Level Salary: $16.85/hour.; the reclassification of Nickolas Rogers, Civilian Jailer, County Sheriff Dept., effective 05/25/14, $17.52/hour, 4%=$.67/hour. Per CWA Civilian Officers Contract agreement, from Class 3 to Class 2.; and the reclassification of Rebecca Bliven, Recorder Clerk II, Auditor/Recorder Dept., effective 05/26/14, $18.81/hour, 10.7%=$1.82/hour. Per AFSCME Courthouse Contract agreement, from Grade 3/Step 4 to Grade 3/Step 5. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Monson second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign a Resolution authorizing tax abatement for City of Danbury, deeded by District Court through abandonment procedures per section 657A.10A, parcel #864227177001, taxes for 2011-12 through 013-14, total $208.00 plus interest. Carried 5-0.

RESOLUTION APPROVING ABATEMENT OF TAXES
WHEREAS, the City of Danbury, Iowa are the titleholders of real estate Parcel #864227177001 located in Woodbury County, Iowa and legally described as follows:
Parcel # 864227177001
DANBURY CITY OF FIRST ADDN LOT 14 BL K 18
WHEREAS, the abovestated property has an unpaid balance of taxes owing, and the parcel is owned by a political subdivision of the state; and
WHEREAS, the political subdivision, namely the City of Danbury, Iowa, is failing to immediately pay the taxes due; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors sees that good cause exists for the abatement of these taxes; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors hereby abates the taxes owing on the above parcels according to Code of Iowa, 445.63, and hereby directs the Woodbury County Treasurer to abate these aforementioned taxes from the tax records.

RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AND APPROVING
MAGNUS ADDITION (A MINOR SUBDIVISION)
TO WOODBURY COUNTY, IOWA
Whereas, the Owner & Proprietor did on the 1st Day of August 2013, file with the Woodbury County Zoning Commission, a certain plat designated as the Final Plat of Magnus Addition, an Addition to Woodbury County, Iowa; and
Whereas, it appears that said plat conforms with all of the provisions of the Code of the State of Iowa and Ordinance of Woodbury County, Iowa, with reference to the filing of same; and
Whereas, the Zoning Commission of Woodbury County, Iowa has recommended the acceptance and approval of said plat; and
Whereas, the County Engineer of Woodbury County, Iowa has recommended the acceptance and approval of said plat.
Now therefore, be, and it is hereby resolved by the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors, Woodbury County, State of Iowa, that the Final Plat of Magnus Addition, Woodbury County, Iowa, be, and the same is hereby accepted and approved, and the Chairman and Secretary of the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors, Woodbury County, State of Iowa, are hereby directed to furnish to the Owner and Proprietor a certified copy of this resolution as required by law.

The Chairperson asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda, or Supervisors concerns. The Board adjourned the regular meeting until May 20, 2014.
