SEPTEMBER 4, 2012 — THIRTYFIFTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Board members present were Monson, Clausen, Boykin, Tripp, and Smith. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.
The Claims were approved as presented. Copy filed.
The meeting was called to order.
Motion by Monson second by Tripp to approve the minutes of the 08/28/2012 Board meeting. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Clausen second by Boykin to approve the appointment of Ryan Chytka, Custodian, Building Services Dept., effective 09-05-12, $14.23/hour. Job Vacancy Posted 7-18-2012. Entry Salary: $12.92 to $14.23/hour; the appointment of David Lacy, Custodian, Building Services Dept., effective 09-05-12, $12.92/hour. Job Vacancy Posted: 7-31-2012. Entry Level Salary: $12.92/hour to $14.23/hour; and the reclassification of Jorma Schwedler, Civilian Jailer, County Sheriff Dept., effective 09-22-12, $19.68/hour, 10.8%=$1.93/hour. Per CWA Civilian Officer Contract agreement: from Class 1 to Senior Class. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

RESOLUTION APPROVING ABATEMENT OF TAXES
WHEREAS, the Woodbury County, Iowa are the titleholders of real estate Parcel #894729334003 located in Woodbury County, Iowa and legally described as follows:

WHEREAS, the abovestated property has an unpaid balance of taxes owing, and the parcel is owned by a political subdivision of the state; and
WHEREAS, the political subdivision, namely the Woodbury County, Iowa, is failing to immediately pay the taxes due; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors sees that good cause exists for the abatement of these taxes and any future taxes that may be levied against this parcel; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors hereby abates the taxes owing on the above parcels according to Code of Iowa, 445.63, and hereby directs the Woodbury County Treasurer to abate these aforementioned taxes from the tax records.

Motion by Monson second by Boykin to approve contract with Hallet Materials (Wall Lake, IA) for maintenance gravel production at the Peters Pit subject to the submission of an insurance certificate. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve contract with Hallet Materials (Wall Lake, IA) for maintenance gravel production at the Railroad Pit. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Monson to refer quotes for a ¾ ton pickup truck of Secondary Roads Dept. to the County Engineer for review and recommendation. Carried 5-0.
The Chairperson asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda, or Supervisors concerns.
Motion by Monson second by Tripp to go into closed session for step two grievance hearing per Iowa Code Section 21.5(1). Carried 5-0 on a roll-call vote.
Motion by Monson second by Boykin to go out of closed session per Iowa Code Section 21.5(1). Carried 5-0 on a roll-call vote.
The Board adjourned the regular meeting until September 11, 2012.
