AUGUST 02, 2011 — TWENTY-NINETH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, August 02, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Board members present were Monson, Clausen, Tripp, Smith, and Boykin. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.

The meeting was called to order.
Motion by Clausen second by Boykin to approve the minutes of the 07/26/2011 Board meeting. Carried 4-0; Smith abstained. Copy filed.
The Board approved the Separation of Eric E. Steffen, Temporary Summer Laborer, Secondary Roads Dept., effective 07/29/11. End of Temporary Work. Copy filed.

Gary Worrell
FOR HIS SERVICE TO WOODBURY COUNTY
WHEREAS, Gary W. Worrell has capably served Woodbury County as an employee of the Woodbury County Secondary Roads Department for 26 years from March 1, 1985 to August 26, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the service given by Gary W. Worrell as a Woodbury County employee, has been characterized by his dedication to the best interests of the citizens of Woodbury County; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF WOODBURY COUNTY, IOWA that the undersigned members of this Board thanks and commends Gary W. Worrell for his years of service to Woodbury County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the wish of all those signing below that the future hold only the best for this very deserving person, Gary W. Worrell.

Sherry Mc Gill, Woodbury County Extension, presented the Board with an update on the Iowa State University Extension.
A public hearing was held at 10:15 a.m. for the sale of property parcel #546707 (3420 Lakeport Road, Sioux City).
The Chairman called on anyone wishing to be heard.
Motion by Clausen second by Boykin to close the hearing. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to set the sale of this parcel at public auction at 10:30 A.M. on August 26th, 2011 at the site.
Motion by Smith second by Tripp to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a “Utility Accommodation Permit” submitted by Qwest Communications, per recommendation of the County Engineer. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Boykin second by Tripp to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Permit to Work in the County Right of Way by Keith Schrunk per Recommendation of County Engineer Mark Nahra. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Smith second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Resolution levying special assessment of $1,000.00 for the Bennett-McDonald Drainage District for fiscal year 2011-2012, per recommendation of the County Engineer. Carried 5-0.

WHEREAS, the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors is the governing body of the Bennett-McDonald Drainage District of Woodbury County, Iowa; and
WHEREAS, said Board, as Trustees, has determined that it is necessary to levy a special tax and/or assessment on all tracts of land, lots, railroad companies and public highways within the boundaries of the said Drainage District.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors as the governing body of the Bennett-McDonald Drainage District, that a special tax and/or assessment in the sum of $ 1,000 be levied against all the tracts of land, lots, railroad companies and public highways within said Drainage District, same to be in the same ratio and upon the same classification as heretofore established, adopted and confirmed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said levy and/or assessment be and the same is hereby certified to the Woodbury County Auditor who is hereby directed to effect said levy and/or assessment against all of the said lands, etc., in the same ratio and upon the same classification as heretofore adopted, established and confirmed and enter same upon the tax list of Woodbury County for collection with the first half of the current year real estate taxes.
