JUNE 1, 2010 — TWENTY-SECOND MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Board members present were Boykin, Clausen, Monson, Smith, and Walish. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator, Loan Hensley, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/ Clerk to the Board.
The Claims were approved as presented. Copy filed.
Motion by Monson second by Walish to go into Closed Session per Iowa Code Section 20.17 (3). Carried 5-0 on a roll-call vote.
Motion by Clausen second by Monson to go out of Closed Session per Iowa Code Section 20.17 (3). Carried 5-0 on a roll-call vote.
Motion by Clausen second by Monson to go into Closed Session per Iowa Code Section 21.5 (1) (c). Carried 5-0 on a roll-call vote.
Motion by Walish second by Smith to go out of Closed Session per Iowa Code Section 21.5 (1) (c). Carried 5-0 on a roll-call vote.
The meeting was called to order.
Motion by Walish second by Smith to approve the minutes of the May 25, 2010 special Board meeting. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Monson second by Smith to approve the minutes of the May 24, 2010 special Board meeting. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
The Board approved the reclassification of James C. Krause, Equipment Operator, Secondary Roads Dept., $18.63/hour, effective 06/16/2010. Per CWA Secondary Roads contract agreement: end of probation increase. Copy filed.
Motion by Clausen second by Monson to approve lifting the tax suspension for Lorna M. Rembe, 6534 Morningside Avenue, Sioux City , as this person is deceased. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Walish second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Resolution approving petition for tax suspension for Curtis Schmidt, 2909 E. 9th Street, Sioux City. Carried 5-0.

RESOLUTION APPROVING PETITION FOR SUSPENSION OF TAXES
WHEREAS Curtis Schmidt, as titleholder of a property located 2909 E. 9th Street., Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, and legally described as follows:

Lot Seven (7) Block Two (2) East Terrace Addition, City of Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa
WHEREAS, Curtis Schmidt of the aforementioned property has petitioned the Board of Supervisors for a suspension of taxes pursuant to the 1997 Iowa Code section 427.9, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes from documents provided that the petitioner is unable to provide to the public revenue; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors hereby grants the request for a suspension of taxes, and hereby directs the Woodbury County Treasurer to so record the approval of this tax suspension for this property.

Motion by Clausen second by Walish to approve and receive for signatures a Resolution thanking and commending retiring County employee Roger Milligan for his years of service to the County. Carried 5-0.

A RESOLUTION THANKING AND COMMENDING
ROGER MILLIGAN
FOR HIS SERVICE TO WOODBURY COUNTY
WHEREAS, Roger Milligan has capably served Woodbury County as an employee of the Woodbury County Secondary Road’s Department for 40 years from January 1, 1970 to June 30, 2010; and
WHEREAS, the service given by Roger Milligan as a Woodbury County employee, has been characterized by his dedication to the best interests of the citizens of Woodbury County; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF WOODBURY COUNTY, IOWA that the undersigned members of this Board thanks and commends Roger Milligan for his years of service to Woodbury County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the wish of all those signing below that the future hold only the best for this very deserving person, Roger Milligan.

Motion by Clausen second by Smith to approve extra work for the 18th Street retaining wall project, per recommendation of the County Engineer. Carried 5-0.
The Board discussed FEMA’s proposed digital flood insurance rate mapping with County Engineer Mark Nahra and Planning and Zoning Administrator John Pylelo.
Motion by Clausen second by Walish to approve a contract and bond for project #BROS-CO97(106)—8J-97, per recommendation of the County Engineer. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
The Chairman asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda, or Supervisors concerns.
The Board adjourned the regular meeting until June 8, 2010.
