SEPTEMBER 8, 2009THIRTY-SIXTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Board members present were Boykin, Clausen, Monson, Smith, and Walish. Staff members present were Heather Satterwhite, Public Bidder, Loan Hensley, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.
The Claims were approved as presented. Copy filed.
Board of Supervisors meeting was called to order.
Motion by Monson second by Walish to approve the Board minutes of the 09/01/2009 meeting as submitted. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
The Board approved the separation of Jonathon J. Learing, Civilian Jailer, County Sheriff Dept., effective 09/01/2009. Dismissed. Copy filed.
Motion by Walish second by Boykin to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign an Authorization To Initiate Hiring Process form for:
1 Male Civilian Jailer, County Sheriff Dept. Entry level: DSDOA $16.16/hour
Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Monson second by Smith to approve tax abatement for parcel #894825302015, sold to the State of Iowa, for the balance of taxes remaining after the pro-rate for 2009-2010, of $3,301.00, per recommendation of Bob Knowler, County Treasurer. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Monson second by Boykin to approve a request from the Phoenix Program for an additional funding amount of $974.00 per month for the year 10/01/2009 through 09/30/2010. Carried 5-0.
Rob Marqusee, Rural Economic Development Director, and Joseph Wright, VP Technology Transfer Siouxland Initiative, announced the Woodbury Entrepreneur Project and a call for participation in the Siouxland Initiatives Kitchen Incubator Project.
Motion by Boykin second by Smith to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Certificate of Completion for project #L-C07(8)73-97, per recommendation of County Engineer Mark Nahra. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
The Board discussed a drainage problem reported by Francis Kirsch, with the County Engineer.
The Chairman asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda or Supervisors concerns.
Pat Driscoll, owner of Maggies Mini Mart, discussed with the Board the operation of a cafe in the Courthouse basement.
The Board adjourned the regular meeting until September 15, 2009.
