APRIL 24, 2007SEVENTEENTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Clausen, and Walish; Monson was absent. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrator, Bobbier Johnson and Loan Hensley, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.

The Claims were approved as presented. Copy filed.

Meeting called to order.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve the Board minutes of the April 17, 2007 meeting as submitted. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

The Board approved the reclassification of Sara L. Wickey, Case Manager, County Social Services Dept., $39,619/year, effective 05/16/2007. Per Wage Plan matrix, 6 year level. Copy filed.

The Board approved the reclassification of William J. Graves, Correctional Officer, County Sheriff Dept., $16.09/hour, effective 05/18/2007. Per DSA contract agreement, from Class 2 to Class 1. Copy filed.

The Board discussed County health insurance coverage for full-time Woodbury County Extension employees, with Sherry McGill.

Motion by Boykin second by Batcheller to authorize the Chairman to sign a letter stating the County does not wish to extend health insurance coverage beyond the statutory requirements. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Clausen second by Boykin to receive the Sheriffs Civil Division 3rd quarter and year-to-date report, for the period ending 03/31/2007. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Batcheller second by Clausen to receive the Recorders report of fees collected for the period of 01/01/2007 through 03/31/2007. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

The Board reviewed a revised development agreement for the construction of the Equestrian Center, with Rob Marqusee, Rural Economic Development.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the revised development agreement for construction of the Equestrian Center. Carried 3-1; Batcheller opposed. Copy filed.

The Board discussed authorization for registration of County-owned trademark, with Rob Marqusee.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve and authorize the registration of the County-owned trademark. Carried 3-1; Batcheller opposed.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a letter on behalf of the Board nominating Woodbury County Emergency Services Director Gary Brown, to serve on the State of Iowa Communications Interoperability Board, as created under House File 353. Carried 4-0.

Jim Grover, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services, gave the Board a presentation of services available through their office.

The Chairman asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda or Supervisors concerns.

Sherry McGill presented the request to the Board for the extension of health care coverage for an employee of extension services.

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until 05/01/2007.
