FEBRUARY 27, 2007NINTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Clausen and Monson; Walish was absent. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrator, Bobbier Johnson, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board.

The Claims were approved as presented. Copy filed.

Meeting called to order.

Motion by Batcheller second by Monson to approve the Board minutes of the February 20, 2007 meeting as submitted. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

The Board approved the separation of Elven C. Merritt, Jr., Temporary Aide, Social Services Dept., effective 03/07/2007. End of temporary status. Copy filed.

The Board approved the reclassification of Dustin D. DeGroot, Correctional Officer, County Sheriff Dept., $14.87/hour, effective 03/15/2007. Per DSA contract agreement, from Class 1 to Class 2. Copy filed.

Motion by Batcheller second by Monson to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign an Authorization to Initiate Hiring Process for a Part-time Youth Worker, Juvenile Detention Dept. Entry level: AFSCME JD $13.52/hour. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Monson second by Boykin to acknowledge the appointment of Jason Hamann, 4375 230th Street, Correctionville, Iowa, for the office of Morgan Township Clerk, to fill a vacancy until the General Election 2008 for the office previously held by Orville Petersen. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

The presentation of Richard Hayes, NAACP, to be given to the Board, on the N-Word Program was postponed.

A public hearing was held at 10:20 a.m. regarding the construction of a proposed maintenance shed at Danbury.

The Chairman called on anyone wishing to be heard on said construction.

Motion by Batcheller second by Monson to close the hearing. Carried 4-0.

Bid letting was held at 10:15 a.m. for the maintenance shed at Danbury. The bids were as follows:

H & H Builders, 411 Burlington Street, Kingsley, IA - $159,000.00
HCI, 1505 Stable Drive, South Sioux City, NE - $189,900.00
Holtze Construction, 412 Pavonia Street, Sioux City, IA - $195,800.00
Weise Construction, 101 State Street, Cushing, IA - $155,238.00

There were no other bids.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to receive the bids and forward them to the County Engineer for review and recommendations. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

The Chairman asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda or Supervisors concerns.

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until March 6, 2007.
