NOVEMBER 7, 2006FORTY-THIRD MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Clausen, Monson, and Walish. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrator, Diane Swoboda Peterson, Deputy/Clerk to the Board, and Bobbier Johnson, Assistant County Attorney.

Meeting called to order.
The Board approved the reclassification of Traci R. Handke, Part-time Operations Officer, Disaster Services Dept., $16.11/hour, effective 07/01/2006. Two salary increases: 06/21/2006 and 07/01/2006 ($23.81 retro pay due). Copy filed.
The Board approved the reclassification of Cameron M. Scott, Senior Correctional Officer, County Sheriff Dept., $17.48/hour, effective 10/14/2006. Per DSA contract agreement from Class 2 to Senior Class due to 4 years employment, plus 4-year B. S. degree ($113.12 retro pay due).
The Board approved the appointment of Daren J. VandeVegte, Correctional Officer, County Sheriff Dept., $14.32/hour, effective 11/08/2006. Job vacancy posted 09/21/2006. Entry level salary: $14.32/hour. Copy filed.
The Board approved the appointment of Michael S. Sweisberger, Part-time Shredder, Social Services Dept., $6.50/hour, effective 11/08/2006. Per Board approval on 10/31/2006. Wage plan: $6.50/hour. Copy filed.
The Board approved the appointment of Elven C. Merritt Jr., Temporary Shredder, Social Services Dept., $5.50/hour, effective11/08/2006. Not to exceed 120 days. Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Monson to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign an Authorization to Initiate Hiring Process for a Full-time Custodian, Building Services Dept. Entry level: AFSCME Courthouse $10.45/hour. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

RESOLUTION APPROVING PETITION FOR SUSPENSION OF TAXES
WHEREAS, Verle R. Bales and Catherine Bales, is the titleholder of property located at 1211 S. Fairmont Street. City of Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, and legally described as follows:
Parcel # 8947 35 158 007
Lot One (1) Block Ten (10) Table Addition, City of Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa
WHEREAS, Verle R. Bales and Catherine Bales as titleholder of the aforementioned real estate has petitioned the Board of Supervisors for a suspension of taxes pursuant to the 1997 Iowa Code section 427.9, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes from documents provided that the petitioner is unable to provide to the public revenue; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors hereby grants the request for a suspension of taxes, and hereby directs the Woodbury County Treasurer to so record the approval of this tax suspension for this property.

The Board discussed a 28E agreement with the City of Sergeant Bluff for a joint use fuel facility.
The Chairman asked if there were any individual or group wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda or Supervisors concerns.
