FEBRUARY 22, 2005 EIGHTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Clausen, Monson, and Walish. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator, Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board, and John Sullivan, Board Legal Counsel.

The Claims were approved as presented. Copy filed.

Meeting called to order.

Motion by Walish second by Monson to approve the Board minutes of February 15, 2005 as submitted. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

There was no action taken to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Authorization to Initiate Hiring Process for a Deputy Sheriff (vacancy), County Sheriff Department, D. S. A. $16.50/hour.

Motion by Clausen second by Batcheller to approve the settlement of a personnel matter. Carried 5-0.

The Board held discussion with J. D. Pellersels, Human Resource Director, concerning the
Economic Development Director position.

Motion by Clausen second by Monson to approve lifting tax suspension for M. E. C. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Walish to appoint Dennis Nitz to the Siouxland District Board of Health. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Batcheller second by Clausen to appoint Thomas H. Jurney to the Commission to Assess Damages. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Monson to appoint Susan Feathers to the Commission to Assess Damages. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Batcheller to accept and approve a quote from Ovel Forest Products, New Hampton, IA for Douglas Fir T & G Bridge floor planks, for $31,680.00, per recommendation of Richard Storm, County Engineer. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Walish to receive and approve the bid from Great Plains International for the purchase of three (3) International 7600 Truck Chassis at $54,590.00/Each, for a total of $163,770.00, per recommendation of Richard Storm, County Engineer. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Walish second by Batcheller to receive Sheriffs Civil Division 2nd Quarter and Year-To-Date reports. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

The Board discussed the Correctionville Sesquicentennial Parade.

Motion by Walish second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a letter authorizing the Woodbury County Fair Association to apply for a grant from Missouri River Historical Development. Carried 4-0, Monson abstained. Copy filed.

The Board discussed the final plats of J. P. Haddock Addition Subdivision with John Pylelo, Zoning Administrator.

Motion by Clausen second by Monson to receive the final plats submitted by Mr. Ron Hanks and refer final plats of J. P. Haddock Addition Subdivision, Parcel #740970, to the Zoning Commission for review and recommendation. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.

John Pylelo, Zoning Administrator, gave a presentation on the construction of Cornerstone Faith Centers worship center.

Mark Elgert, Building Superintendent, gave an update on Building Services Comprehensive Infrastructure Plan.

The Board approved the reinstatement of David E. Kjos, Deputy Sheriff, County Sheriff Dept., $21.25/hour effective 02-11-2005. Copy filed.

The Chairman asked if there were any individual or group wishing to make a presentation of items not
on the agenda or Supervisors concerns.

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until March 1, 2005.
