JANUARY 2, 2003SPECIAL MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 9:00 A.M. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Clausen and Walish, Welte was absent. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator, Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board, and John Sullivan, Board Legal Counsel.

Meeting called to order.

The Oath of Office was administered by District Court Judge Mary Jane Sokolovske to Board of Supervisors George Boykin and Douglas Walish; County Treasurer Bob Knowler and County Attorney Thomas Mullin.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve the appointment of Douglas Walish as the Chairman for the 2003 session. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve the appointment of Maurice Welte as the Chairman Pro Tem for 2003 session. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve the appointment of County Engineer, Richard Storm. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve the appointment of County Medical Examiner, Dr. Thomas Carroll. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve Larry Clausen as County Representative to the Third Judicial District, Department of Correctional Services. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Boykin second by Batcheller to conduct a contest to select the official newspapers for Woodbury County from The Sioux City Journal, The Sioux Valley News, The Moville Record and The Sergeant Bluff Advocate. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve the appointment of Gretchen Schalge, 3029 Jackson St., Sioux City, IA, to the Loess Hills Alliance Board of Directors. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Clausen second by Batcheller approve the appointments to the Commission to Assess Damages as follows:
