SEPTEMBER 30, 2002SPECIAL MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. Board members present were Batcheller, Clausen, Walish and Welte; Boykin was absent. Staff members present were Patrick F. Gill, County Auditor/Clerk to the Board and Victoria L. Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections.
The meeting was called to order to canvass the Western Iowa Tech Community College Election held on September 10, 2002.
Victoria Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections, presented the canvass as follows:
For the office of Western Iowa Tech Community College School Board Director District IV there were One Hundred Thirty-Five (135) votes cast as follows:
Bill Lyle received One Hundred Thirty-Two (132) votes
Scattered Write-Ins received Three (3) votes
We therefore declare Bill Lyle duly elected to the office of Western Iowa Tech Community College School Board Member, Director District IV, for the term of 3 years.
For the office of Western Iowa Tech Community College School Board Director District VI there were Five Hundred Fifty-Eight (558) votes cast as follows:
Eldon L. Schroder received Five Hundred Fifty-One (551) votes
Scattered Write-ins received Seven (7) votes
We therefore declare Eldon Schroder duly elected to the office of Western Iowa Tech Community College School Board Member, Director District VI, for the term of 3 years.
For the office of Western Iowa Tech Community College School Board Director District VII there were Six-Hundred Thirty-Three (633) votes cast as follows:
Curt Grigg received Six Hundred Fifteen (615) votes
Scattered Write-ins received Eighteen (18) votes
We therefore declare Curt Grigg duly elected to the office of Western Iowa Tech Community College School Board Member, Director District VII, for the term of 3 years.
For the office of Western Iowa Tech Community College School Board Director District IX there were One Thousand Sixty-Six (1,066) votes cast as follows:
Derrick R. Franck received One Thousand Sixty-Two (1,062) votes
Scattered Write-ins received Four (4) votes
We therefore declare Derrick R. Franck duly elected to the office of Western Iowa Tech Community College School Board Member, Director District IX, for the term of 3 years.
For the Western Iowa Tech Community College Tax Levy Question (A) there were Seven Thousand Ninety-Five (7,095) votes cast as follows:
SHALL THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC MEASURE BE ADOPTED?
Shall the Board of Directors of Western Iowa Tech Community College in the Counties of Buena Vista, Carroll, Cherokee, Crawford, Harrison, Ida, Monona, Plymouth, Sac, Shelby, Sioux and Woodbury, State of Iowa, cause to be levied a tax not to exceed six (6) cents per thousand dollars of assessed value in any one year for a period of ten consecutive fiscal years beginning with the tax levy to be made for collection in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2004, for either of the following purposes: program sharing between community colleges or for the purchase of instructional equipment, or for such other purposes as authorized by law, as provided in Chapter 260C, Section 28 of the Code of Iowa?
For the question there were Three Thousand One Hundred Forty-Five (3,145) votes cast.
Against the question there were Three-Thousand Nine-Hundred Fifty-Six (3,956) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure W.I.T. Tax Levy Question A to be not adopted.
Motion by Batcheller second by Welte to receive and approve the official canvass results of the Western Iowa Tech Community College Election. Carried 4-0.
