OCTOBER 11, 2001 - SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Thursday, October 11, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. to canvass the City of Sioux City Municipal Primary Election of October 9, 2001. Board members present were Clausen, Batcheller, Walish and Welte. Boykin was absent. Staff members present were Patrick F. Gill, Clerk to the Board, and Victoria L Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections.
Victoria L. Ritz, Deputy Commissioner of Elections, announced there were three (3) special challenged ballots, of which zero (0) was accepted. There were no absentee ballots received after the election.
Motion by Batcheller second by Walish to accept the official canvass from the Municipal Primary Election of October 9, 2001 for the City of Sioux City. Carried 4-0. The votes were as follows:
For the office of Sioux City Council Member there were Five Thousand Six Hundred Fifty (5,650) votes cast as follows:
Martin J. Dougherty received Two Thousand Eight Hundred Five (2,805) votes
Dave Ferris received Two Thousand Six Hundred Seventy-One (2,671) votes
Karen Forneris received Two Thousand Nine (2,009) votes
George R. Lindblade received One Thousand Eight Hundred Forty-Nine (1,849) votes
Thomas R. Padgett received Two Thousand Two Hundred Sixty-Nine (2,269) votes
Marty Pottebaum received One Thousand Eight Hundred Three (1,803) votes
Jim Stephenson received Nine Hundred Six ( 906) votes
Jeffrey A. Wright received One Thousand Thirty-Nine (1,039) votes
Scattered Write-ins received Sixteen ( 16) votes
We therefore declare Martin J. Dougherty, Dave Ferris, Karen Forneris, George R. Lindblade, Thomas R. Padgett and Marty Pottebaum duly elected to go on to the Regular City Election November 6, 2001.
