SEPTEMBER 18, 2001ELEVENTH MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at 9:00 A.M. Board members present were Boykin, Clausen, Batcheller and Walish, Welte was absent. Staff members present were Sonya Pierce, Public Bidder, Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board, and John Rusch, Board Legal Counsel.
The Claims were approved as presented. Copy filed.
Meeting called to order.
Motion by Clausen second by Batcheller to approve the Board minutes of September 11, 2001 as submitted. Carried 3-0, Walish abstained.
Motion by Clausen second by Walish to approve the minutes of the special meeting of September 14, 2001 to canvass the school election as submitted. Carried 3-0, Batcheller abstained.
The Board approved the reclassification of James E. Thomas, Maintenance Technician, Building Services Dept., @$13.92/hr., effective 7-10-01, per AFSCME Cthouse, Contract agreement, from Grade 5, Step 4 to Grade 5, Step 5. (Retro Pay due.) Copy filed.
The Board approved the separation of Tony L. Holmberg, Correctional Officer, County Sheriff Dept., effective 9-10-01. Resignation Copy filed.
The Board approved the reclassification of Dennis A. Alioth, Correctional Officer, County Sheriff Dept., @$15.68/hr., effective 9-22-01, per DSA Contract agreement, from Class 1 to Senior Class. Copy filed.
The Board approved the appointment of John P. Carr, Equipment Operator, Secondary Roads Dept., @$13.86/hr., effective 9-24-01. Job Vacancy Posted: 7-01-01. Entry Level Salary: $13.86/hour. Copy filed.
The Board approved the reclassification of Patrick A. Jennings, Assistant County Attorney, County Attorney Dept., @$39,504/yr., effective 9-25-01, per AFSCME Asst. Co. Attorney Contract agreement, from Step 1 to Step 2. Copy filed.
Motion by Batcheller second by Walish to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the authorization to initiate hiring process for a Correctional Officer, County Sheriff Dept. DSA Entry: $13.24/hour; and for two (2) Fulltime/Temporary Equipment Operators, Secondary Roads Dept. @ $13.86/hour. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.
The Board discussed Woodbury County Workmans Compensation Insurance Plan.
Motion by Batcheller second by Clausen to proceed with Woodbury County Workmans Compensation Insurance Plan. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.
Motion by Batcheller second by Clausen to defer action to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a resolution approving abatement of taxes pending review by the county attorney. Carried 4-0.
There was no action taken to receive and approve a request from Pierson Town and Country Club of Pierson, Iowa, to use county property for an event in 2002.
Motion by Clausen second by Batcheller to receive the quotes for full depth concrete pavement repair and accept the quote of Ten Point Construction, Denison, Iowa, per recommendation of the county engineer. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.
Bid letting was held for 2001-2002 Propane at 10:20 A.M.

John Malloy, WCICC, gave Intranet Web presentation to the Board.
Assistant County Attorney Mark Campbell gave an Intranet Web Law Enforcement presentation.
The Chairman asked if there were any individual or group wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda or Supervisors concerns.
Darlene Schultz addressed the board about a drainage problem on their property.
The Board adjourned the regular meeting until September 25, 2001.
