AUGUST 24, 1999 EIGHTH MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 9:00 A.M. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Clausen, Walish, and Welte. Staff members present were Nancy Hodge, Board Administrative Coordinator, Patrick F. Gill, Clerk to the Board, and John Rusch, Board Legal Counsel.
The Claims were approved as presented.
Meeting called to order.
There was open discussion period held by the Board.
Motion by Batcheller second by Welte to approve the regular Board Minutes of August 17, 1999 as submitted. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Boykin second by Welte to approve the minutes of the Executive Session of August 17, 1999 as submitted. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to authorize Chairman to sign claim request form to State of Iowa for the Special Election called by the State for the Constitution Amendments. Carried 5-0. Copy filed.
The Board approved the separation of Matt L. Todd, Temp. Summer Laborer, Secondary Roads, effective 8/13/99. Copy filed.
The Board approved the separation of Phil G. Hane, Jr., Temp. Summer Laborer, Secondary Roads, effective 8/20/99. Copy filed.
Motion by Welte second by Boykin to set the Public Hearing and Sale of Real Estate Parcel #093375 on September 7, 1999 at 10:15 AM. Carried 5-0.

NOTICE OF PROPERTY SALE

WHEREAS Woodbury County, Iowa is the owner under a tax deed of a certain parcel of real estate described as:
That part of Lot Thirty-four(34) in Block One (1) of Chase and Taylors Addition of Sioux City, described as: Commencing at the North-east corner of said Lot Thirty-four(34); thence Southwesterly along the East line of said Lot One Hundred fifty-three feet (153); thence Westerly Ten feet(10); thence Northerly Seventy feet (70); thence Northeasterly on a line parallel with the said East line Ninety-two feet (39) to the South line of Seventeenth or Ash Street; thence Easterly Thirty-nine feet (39) to the place of beginning, in the County of Woodbury and State of Iowa. (a.k.a.1204 17th Street)
NOT THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Woodbury County, Iowa as follows:
1. That a public hearing on the aforesaid proposal shall be held on the 7th day of September, 1999, at 10:15 oclock a.m. in the meeting room of the Board of Supervisors on the first floor of the Woodbury County Courthouse.
2. That said Board proposes to sell the said parcel of real estate at a public auction to be held on the 7th day of September, 1999, immediately following the closing of the public hearing.
3. That said Board proposes to sell the said real estate to the highest bidder at or above a total minimum bid of $362.00 plus recording fees.
4. That this resolution, preceded by the caption Notice of Property Sale and except for this subparagraph 4 be published as notice of the aforesaid proposal, hearing and sale.

Motion by Boykin second by Walish to authorize Chairman to sign certificate of completion for 1999 Maintenance Gravel Project G-199. Carried 5-0.
The Board reviewed the quotes for Timber Bridge floor plank
Motion by Batcheller second by Boykin to approve a quote from Wheeler Consolidated, Inc. in the amount of $28,455 for Timber Bridge floor plank. Carried 5-0.
The Board reviewed the recommendations of County Engineer, Richard Storm regarding dust control on high traffic roads.
The County Picnic Committee reported to the Board that they spent $1,195.75 out of a budgeted $2,000.00 on the County Picnic held 8-21-99. The Board thanked them for their efforts and voiced their appreciation.
Motion by Boykin second by Walish to go into Executive Session per Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(g). Carried 5-0 on a roll call vote.
Motion by Boykin second by Batcheller to go out of Executive Session. Carried 5-0 on a roll call vote.
Motion by Boykin second by Welte to approve the security recommendations of the sheriff for the county home and to implement the weekend work program at that facility. Carried 5-0.
The Board adjourned the regular meeting until August 31, 1999.
