JUNE 9, 1998 FIFTY-FIRST MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, June 9, 1998 at 9:00 A.M. Board members present were Batcheller, Boykin, Burnight, Clausen and Welte. Staff members present were Nancy Hodge, Board Administrative Coordinator, Patrick F. Gill, County Auditor/Board Secretary, Vicki Ritz, Deputy Elections Commissioner, and Ann Long, Assistant Attorney.

The Board canvassed the Primary Election of June 2, 1998 at 9:00 A.M. with results as follows:

Vicki Ritz, Deputy Election Commissioner announced that there was three (3) challenged ballots, of which zero (0) were accepted and added to the Tally. There were also two (2) After Election Absentee Ballots that were postmarked by June 1st or hand delivered on Election Day, which were also added to the Tally.

Motion by Burnight second by Boykin to approve the minutes of the regular Board Minutes of June 2, 1998. Carried 5-0.

Motion by Boykin second by Batcheller to approve the minutes of the first Executive Session of June 2, 1998. Carried 5-0.

Motion by Batcheller second by Burnight to approve the minutes of the second Executive Session of June 2, 1998 amended to delete Clausen from those in attendance. Carried 4-0. Clausen abstained.

Phil Kratz of DHS, presented a request from Siouxland Human Investment Partnership Executive Board for $20,000 in matching funds for Summer Programming for At Risk Children.

Dr. James Austin of the Sioux City Community School District expressed their support for the request.

Tim Jacobs of the Sioux City Council expressed support for the request.

Dave Amick, Woodbury County Sheriff asked for the Boards support.

Stephen Quirk of Siouxland District Health voiced support.

The Public Hearing and sale of Real Estate Parcel #175590 was held at 10:15 A.M. The Chairman called on anyone wishing to be heard on said sale.

Motion by Clausen second by Batcheller to close the Public Hearing on the sale of Real Estate Parcel #175590 as there was no one present wishing to be heard on said sale. Carried 5-0.

Chairman called for bids on Real Estate Parcel #175590. William Schulte bid $450.00 plus recording fees.

Motion by Clausen second Boykin by to accept $450.00 bid plus recording fees for Real Estate Parcel #175590. Carried 5-0.

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF WOODBURY COUNTY, IOWA #9082

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board or Supervisors of Woodbury County, Iowa, that the offer at public auction of: William J. Schulte, single person.

in the sum of FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY AND NO/100 ($450.00) Dollars for the following described real estate to wit

RESOLUTION APPROVING PETITION FOR SUSPENSION OF TAXES

WHEREAS, Mary A. Dawdy, as joint titleholder of real estate located at 2016 S. Lemon Street, Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, and legally described as follows:

Lot 21 Blk 20 Hedges Morningside Addition, City of Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa

WHEREAS, Mary A. Dawdy as joint titleholder of the aforementioned property has petitioned the Board of Supervisors for a suspension of taxes pursuant to the 1997 Iowa Code section 427.9 and

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes from documents provided that the petitioner is unable to provide to the public revenue; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors hereby grants the request for a suspension of taxes, and hereby directs the Woodbury County Treasurer to so record the approval of this tax suspension for this property.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to authorize the Chairman to sign an agreement with City of Hornick to use Secondary Roads Equipment. Carried 4-0. Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Burnight to approve the dust control recommendation for Buchanan Ave. for a trail period. Carried 3-0. Clausen abstained.

Motion by Boykin second by Clausen to approve the dust control recommendation for Warrior Road if Sergeant Bluff agrees to pay half. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Clausen second by Burnight to reappoint Lloyd Henderson to the Commission of Veteran Affairs. Carried 4-0.

Motion by Boykin second by Burnight to set a Public Hearing for Budget Amendment #1 to FY 1998-99, for July 1, 1998 at 9:00 A.M. Carried 4-0.
