Summary

 
Siouxland District Health Department offers a wide array of services in a progressive public health environment.  Staff have the ability to interact with professionals working in our health promotions, environmental health, infectious disease, epidemiology, preparedness and family and community health areas.  SDHD offers an onsite fitness room, involvement in wellness activities and a lactation/relaxation room.  Starting salary is offered in a range based on experience along with an excellent benefit package, including medical, dental and vision insurance, sick and vacation time, paid holidays, IPERS and deferred compensation plan.  Community opportunities for involvement exist.

Essential Functions

Responsible for supervision, training, and performance of SDHD custodians. This includes organizing custodial activities and projects, time management, corrective action, and conducting performance reviews.
Maintain logistical operations within allowed budget.
Acquire and maintain inventory of supplies needed for facility operations including custodial supplies.
Assist with security and safety needs including security system, security cameras, and a variety of other security needs.
Manage SDHD vehicles including procurement, operator safety, and maintenance.
Plan for and supervise building projects and outside contractors. Obtain and analyze contractor bids for repairs, replacement, and maintenance.
Communicate regularly with Woodbury County Building Services personnel regarding routine, future, and unexpected building needs.
Serve on the SDHD safety committee.
Assist with the delivery of mail, packages, and messages.
Manage and help with the loading and unloading of shipments and deliveries.
Perform light maintenance that may include plumbing, HVAC and boiler preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
Provide assistance and backup coverage for custodial tasks as needed and operate custodial equipment. This may include the following: sweep, mop, buff floors, and vacuum carpets; wash walls and windows; polish furniture; dust woodwork, furniture, and other articles; pick up paper and debris on grounds; and pulls weeds.
Operate cleaning machines, including carpet shampooer, burnisher and auto scrubber.
Maintain safety logs of custodial supplies including chemicals.

Assist with the quality improvement process within the agency.
• Ensure compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) covering the security and privacy of confidential client data.
• Ensure participant records and communication with participants, co-workers and other health professionals are in accordance with Confidentiality Policy.
• Attend and participate in work-related meetings, conferences/seminars and committees.
• Assist in agency/division planning and response to disaster situations and emergency situations or events in conjunction with agency emergency plan.
• Provide customer service that is courteous and responsive.
• Demonstrate professional oral, phone and written communication skills.

Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: Must have a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of three year’s experience in logistics and facility management along with general custodial duties.  Computer skills required.  Must have valid Driver License, ability to obtain car insurance at agency-specified liability level and reliable transportation.  Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.
