Summary

Essential Functions

Under general supervision, performs diversified professional laboratory work by analyzing clinical and environmental samples. Conducts communicable disease investigation and epidemiology and performs examinations and treatment for sexually transmitted infections. Assists in SDHD emergency preparedness planning by updating plans, coordinating and participating training and exercises.  Also performs laboratory housekeeping functions and quality control procedures, operates laboratory equipment, and collects environmental and limited clinical samples from various sources.  Provides education and customer service duties to the public regarding the services of Siouxland District Health Department

Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability

Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological sciences: OR Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa; OR Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training may be considered.  Must have valid Driver License, ability to obtain car insurance at agency-specified liability level and reliable transportation.  Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.
