Valuation Appeal
As a property owner, you have rights. If you feel your 2024 value is incorrect, please follow the link listed that will take you to our Beacon Website. Review your property details and make note of any discrepancies. In the upper left hand corner, there is the word "MAP", click on it and along the left hand layer list there is the option to select Residential Sales, please check it and then also select Sioux City Residential Sales underneath it. This will show you all of the sales in your area that have influenced your value. If at that time, you still feel your value is incorrect you may file an appeal using the online appeal form. Your petition will be reviewed by an Appraiser and if there are any questions, they will reach out to you.
The normal appeal period is from April 2 to April 30. A stipulated agreement may be able to be reached with the Assessor's office between April 2 to April 25. We have included an instruction sheet that will help you to fill out your petition below.
You may return your petition by mail or email to the following address:
Sioux City Assessor's Office
620 Douglas St., 5th Floor

Online Appeal Program Link: Beacon Website
To assist in the process, the Sioux City Assessor has put into action an online appeal program. Property owners will have to search for their property on the Beacon Website first before an appeal can be started (this is a pre-populated form). Click on the link, enter the property you wish to appeal and navigate towards the bottom of the property information. Right above the photo, there should be a blue box labeled "Board of Review Petition". Click on that button and follow the directions to fill out your appeal.
If after you have appealled to the local Sioux City Board of Review and you wish to begin the next step, visit the PAAB website or file with the District Court.
